Why import from Uthsavi

Six reasons a buyer picks a Jaipur workshop over a catalogue supplier.

Most importers sourcing Indian wooden furniture end up talking to trading agents who never touch the product. You would be talking to the people who cut, joint and finish it. Here is what that changes for your order.

Real solid wood, stated honestly

Sheesham, Mango and Babul hardwood, kiln-treated and selected piece by piece. Where a design uses cane, rattan, metal or upholstery, we say so on the spec sheet rather than describing everything as “solid wood”.

Your drawings, engineered to build

Send spec sheets, CAD files or reference photographs. Our in-house design team returns what is genuinely buildable in hardwood at your price point, with dimensions in millimetres or inches, before anyone quotes you.

OEM and private label

Ship under your own brand. Your labels, care cards, barcodes, cartons and assembly instructions. We do not put our mark on a piece you are selling as yours.

Production you can actually watch

Photographs from the floor at frame, pre-finish and packing stage, plus a live video walkthrough on request. You are welcome to appoint a third-party inspection agency, or to visit the workshop yourself.

Mixed loads, not one dead model

A first order can combine beds, dining, sofas and case goods across finishes, so you test a range in your market instead of committing a full container to a single SKU.

One point of contact

One export desk from first enquiry to documents, working 9:30–18:00 IST, Monday to Saturday, and available on WhatsApp and email outside those hours for time-zone overlap.

Women-led manufacturing

Founded, owned and run by Ms Sonika Singh.

Uthsavi is a women-led furniture manufacturer, not a family trading firm with a woman’s name on the paperwork. Ms Sonika Singh founded the company, sets the design direction and signs off on what leaves the workshop.

Kolkata-born and Delhi-trained, she moved to Jaipur and found a woodworking tradition that could make what the metros could not: real hardwood furniture, made to order, without the price of a luxury import. Uthsavi grew out of that, a company partnering directly with Rajasthan’s regional artisans instead of buying finished stock from a market.

For buyers with supplier diversity mandates, that ownership is documentable. We can provide company registration, ownership proof and the standard vendor onboarding paperwork your procurement team needs to register Uthsavi as a women-owned supplier.

What this means for your order

Decisions without a chain of command

A finish change or a dimension query is answered by the person who can authorise it, usually the same day.

Diverse-supplier reporting

If you report on women-owned sourcing to a board, a retailer group or a certification body, Uthsavi counts, and we will give you the documents to prove it.

Artisan partnerships, on record

We work with named regional artisan units in Rajasthan and can tell you who built your order, useful if your own marketing is built on provenance.

A story your customers can be told

Founder photographs, workshop footage and artisan credits are available for your catalogue, website and retail displays at no cost.

Please read before you shortlist

The pieces on this website are samples of our work, not our export range.

What is published online is a small selection made for Indian retail customers. Our export catalogue is a separate, detailed document, model-wise specifications, wood and finish options, dimensions, carton sizes, CBM per piece and indicative wholesale pricing. We share it directly with verified trade buyers rather than publishing it, because pricing is set per market and per volume.

To receive it, fill in the catalogue request form below. It takes a minute, and it tells us which sections of the catalogue are worth sending you.

How your first order works

Seven steps from enquiry to the container leaving port.

Nothing here is unusual, but importers ask us to spell it out, so here it is, in order, with what you owe us and what we owe you at each stage.

01

Enquiry and catalogue

You send your market, product interest and rough volume. We send the export catalogue and set up a call.

02

Technical call

Wood, finish, sizing, hardware and packing confirmed against your market’s expectations before any price is written.

03

Written quotation

Per-model pricing, MOQ, CBM, lead time and your chosen incoterm, in one document you can take to your own costing.

04

Sample and sign-off

We build one piece per new model. You approve wood, joinery, dimensions and finish in writing. Only then do we cut for the order.

05

Production with updates

Photographs at frame, pre-finish and packing stage. Video walkthrough or third-party inspection whenever you want one.

06

Final QC and packing

Piece-by-piece check against the approved sample, then packed and marked to your carton and labelling instructions.

07

Documents and dispatch

Handover to your forwarder or ours, with the full document set issued to your customs broker.

After arrival

Assembly guidance, care instructions, touch-up materials and replacement parts for anything that travels badly.

Markets we supply

What tends to sell, market by market.

Handcrafted Indian hardwood furniture does not sell the same way everywhere. These are the markets our enquiries come from, and what buyers there usually shortlist first.

United States & Canada

Visible grain, honest joinery

Rustic and transitional dining, bedroom and console pieces in Sheesham and Mango, with US mattress sizing and knock-down packing for last-mile delivery.

United Kingdom

Heritage silhouettes

Poster beds, cabriole and camelback seating and carved case goods, sized for UK rooms and doorways rather than scaled-down showroom samples.

Germany, Netherlands & EU

Sourcing and finish first

European buyers open on timber sourcing, moisture content and finish safety. We are set up to answer those before design, and to document what we answer.

Australia & New Zealand

Warm natural tones

Mango and Babul in light and honey finishes, with fumigation and treatment paperwork prepared for strict biosecurity clearance.

UAE & Middle East

Richer, more ornate work

Hand-carved and rattan-medallion pieces in deeper finishes, plus villa and hospitality project quantities on a fixed handover date.

Somewhere else?

We read every enquiry that comes in, from any country. Tell us what your market buys and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right workshop for it.

Buying from a new supplier

How we take the risk out of a first order.

Importing from a workshop you have never visited, in a country you may never have bought from, is a real risk. We would rather name it than pretend it away. Every one of these is standard on a first Uthsavi order, you do not have to negotiate for it.

Nothing is built before you approve a sample

Your written sign-off on the sample is the reference for the whole batch. Anything that does not match it does not ship.

Independent inspection is welcome

Appoint SGS, Bureau Veritas, TÜV or your own agent. We will schedule production around their visit and share the report with you.

Come and see the workshop

In person in Jaipur, or on a live video walkthrough if you cannot travel. We will show you the floor, not a showroom.

Verifiable company, verifiable owner

Registration and export documents, GST details and ownership proof are shared for your vendor onboarding and due diligence.

A quotation that does not move

Prices, CBM and lead time are fixed for the validity stated on the quotation. No revision after you have committed a purchase order.

A trial order before a container

If you would rather test the market first, ask about a part-load trial. We would rather earn the container than push you into one.

Catalogue request

Request the detailed export catalogue.

Fill this in and our export desk sends you the catalogue sections relevant to your market, with specifications, carton and CBM data and indicative wholesale pricing. We reply within one working day, Monday to Saturday.

We only use these details to answer your enquiry. No lists, no resale, no marketing you did not ask for.

Product list, volumes, destination country. That is enough for us to come back with something useful.

Frequently asked questions

What trade buyers ask before they enquire.

Do you export solid wood furniture from India?
Yes. We manufacture in Jaipur and accept wholesale and export orders from importers, distributors, retailers, e-commerce sellers, interior studios and hospitality buyers outside India. Tell us your market and requirement and our export desk will confirm timelines, terms and what is realistic to build first.
What is your minimum order quantity?
MOQ depends on the piece, the wood and the finish. We normally set it against a mixed container or a per-model quantity rather than a blanket number, and confirm it in writing with your quotation. If you want to test the market first, ask about a part-load trial order.
Can you manufacture to our own designs?
Yes. Send spec sheets, CAD drawings or reference photographs. Our in-house design team confirms what is achievable in solid hardwood at your price point, flags anything that will not survive the joinery or the freight, and then we quote.
Do you offer OEM and private label supply?
Yes. Your brand, labels, care cards, barcodes, cartons and assembly instructions. We do not mark a piece you are selling as your own.
Which woods and finishes do you work with?
Primarily Sheesham (Indian rosewood), Mango and Babul. Finishes include natural, honey, walnut, teak, dark chocolate, whitewash and distressed, in matte, satin or gloss lacquer, with custom colour matching against your swatch. Cane and rattan detailing, hand carving and metal accents are all in-house capabilities.
How do I get the full catalogue and price list?
The pieces published on this website are a sample of our work. The detailed export catalogue, model-wise specifications, dimensions, carton sizes, CBM and indicative wholesale pricing, is shared on request with verified trade buyers. Fill in the catalogue request form on this page and we will email it to you.
Why is pricing not published on the website?
Because a real wholesale price depends on volume, wood, finish, packing and destination. Publishing one number would mean quoting you a worse price than we can actually give you. Send the form and you get pricing built around your order.
Is Uthsavi a women-owned business?
Yes. Uthsavi was founded and is led by Ms Sonika Singh, and works in partnership with regional artisan units in Rajasthan. If your sourcing policy or retailer group requires women-owned or diverse supplier documentation, we will provide our ownership paperwork for your vendor onboarding.
Will you send a sample before a bulk order?
For every new partner, yes. We build one confirmed sample per new model and you sign off on wood, joinery, dimensions and finish before we cut for the full order. Sample cost and freight are quoted separately and can be adjusted against a confirmed order.
Can we inspect the order before it ships?
Yes, and we recommend it. Visit the workshop, join a live video walkthrough, or appoint a third-party inspection agency such as SGS or Bureau Veritas. We schedule production around their visit and share the report.
What are your payment terms?
On a first order, an advance to begin production and the balance against approval before dispatch. For repeat partners and larger programmes we are open to letters of credit and revised terms, agreed case by case.
How is the furniture packed for sea freight?
Knock-down where the design allows, with foam and corner protection, a moisture barrier and five-ply cartons, palletised or loose-loaded depending on your freight mode. Your own carton artwork and labelling are accepted. Packing is confirmed with you before dispatch.
What documents do you provide with a shipment?
Commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin, and fumigation or phytosanitary certificates where the destination requires them. Name any additional market-specific paperwork at order stage and we will prepare it.
How long does an order take?
4–6 weeks production for a standard first order after sample approval, plus sampling time before it and sea transit after it. Heavily carved or large programmes are quoted with their own timeline. We give you a date and tell you early if anything threatens it.
About our export operation

Solid wood furniture manufacturer and exporter in Jaipur, India

Uthsavi is a women-led manufacturer and exporter of custom solid wood furniture, based in Jaipur, Rajasthan, the centre of India’s hardwood furniture trade. We handcraft beds, dining sets, sofas, cabinets, desks and storage in Sheesham, Mango and Babul hardwood, and supply them wholesale to importers, distributors, furniture retailers, online sellers, interior design studios and hospitality projects overseas. Every piece is made to order, which means an export buyer is not choosing from a fixed range but specifying one.

Founded by Ms Sonika Singh, the company was built on direct partnerships with Rajasthan’s regional artisans rather than on buying finished stock from a wholesale market. That is why an importer dealing with us is dealing with the workshop, the same people who select the timber, cut the joinery and sign off the finish. It is a shorter chain than the trading-house route, and it shows up in the quality of the answers you get on a technical call.

Wholesale furniture supply for importers and distributors

Our wholesale programme is built for buyers importing furniture into the USA, United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Australia, New Zealand, the UAE and Canada. A typical first order is a mixed load across categories and finishes, so you can test several designs in your market before committing to volume on any one of them. We quote ex-works, FOB Indian port or CIF, work with your freight forwarder or ours, and prepare the full export document set for your customs broker.

  • Wholesale supply of handcrafted Indian solid wood furniture for retail and online resale
  • OEM manufacturing from your own CAD drawings, spec sheets or reference samples
  • Private label supply under your brand, with your labelling, packaging and barcodes
  • Contract and project supply for hotels, restaurants, serviced apartments and villas
  • Replenishment programmes for models you have already proved in your market

Why importers source solid wood furniture from India

India remains one of the few places where genuine hand-built hardwood furniture is made at commercially sensible prices. Jaipur in particular has generations of woodworking skill in carving, turning, cane weaving and joinery, work that cannot be reproduced by a machine line at any price. For a retailer whose customers want visible grain, real joinery and pieces that read as made rather than manufactured, that skill is the product. What buyers tell us they struggle to find is not the craft but a supplier who is transparent about materials, honest about timelines and reachable when something needs deciding. That is the gap Uthsavi is built to fill.

Custom furniture manufacturing to your specification

Customisation is the default here, not a premium service. Dimensions and mattress sizes for your market, seat heights and depths for your customers, hardware and upholstery from your suppliers, finishes matched to your existing range, carving depth adjusted to your price point. Send us a photograph of something you cannot source any more and we will tell you what it takes to build it. Send us a drawing and we will tell you what needs to change before it survives a sea container.

Request the export catalogue

The furniture shown on this website is a sample of our work, published for Indian retail customers. Our export catalogue is a separate document with model-wise specifications, wood and finish options, carton dimensions, CBM per piece and indicative wholesale pricing, and it is shared directly with verified trade buyers. Use the catalogue request form on this page and our export desk will send you the sections that suit your market, usually within one working day.
